“Over our 25-year history, Cornerstone has been a proud gender-balanced workplace, in our staff and leadership,” said President Mark Miller.  “On this International Women’s Day, we want to express our appreciation for the monumental contributions that women have made over those years to our company, our industry, and our progress towards a more sustainable world.” Through the decades Miller has seen advancement of women in many of the manufacturing facilities we serve.  “Improvements to the factory floor have empowered women and they are becoming more and more critical to the future of the industry.”  Changes as small as ergonomically correct production machinery that is adjustable for height and reach differences, to large as, much improved sexual harassment training.  It’s also in the little things like a new brand of steel-toed work boots from Xena Workwear that empowers women to express themselves through their workwear and meet safety standards in PPE. As women’s contributions to the industrial sector have grown, the organizations that support them are taking notice.  The Women in Manufacturing Association will induct their inaugural class into their Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame in September 2020 and the Manufacturing Institute this past year honored 100 women through the STEP Ahead Awards program. According to a 2017 study by the Manufacturing Institute, more than half of women (58 percent) have observed or marked some positive changes in their industry’s attitude towards female professional employees, over the last five years. “I expect that number to go even higher in the future, and I’m proud that Cornerstone can be a trusted partner to those facilities” Miller added.
